Hot yoga is so hot right now..

So recently I've been getting into Bikram yoga and it's fabulous! I got a great deal from Groupon for 10 classes for $39 at a great yoga studio in Santa Monica called Hot8Yoga thanks to mama Kole! I had to get one for Ry to join with me and we love it!

I've been doing yoga for years and have always liked it, so I thought why not kick it up a notch with some heat! (Okay Emeril) I'm proud of myself for getting through the first class. Intense! It's definitely a challenge getting used to working out in temps of 105 and above. If you've never been..prepare to sweat! You will need to bring a change of clothes, drink a lot of water throughout the day before your class, and don't eat 2-3 hours before. You will get sick to your stomach during your practice!

Hot yoga is all about deep concentration on your breathe and the movement. You have to mentally prepare for this style of yoga for sure. I felt amazing after and so much more alert and present with the world. If you haven't tried Bikram please do. It's always great to challenge yourself to do things you never thought you would be able to do!

  1. Love it!! Would you say to go to normal yoga for a while first? Or is it ok to go to Bikram if i havent done yoga in forever??

  2. Yes definitely! I would get familiar with the poses and gain some flexibility before doing Bikram. It's still okay to do Bikram if you haven't done yoga in a while. They say no to judge it until the 3rd class. It is veeery different adjusting to the heat. But a lot of it is in your mind! All I know is you feel rejuvenated and amazing after. Bikram is detoxifying so it's really beneficial. Not only that you become more flexible, have better balance, and shed away toxins and pounds! LOVE it. You gotta try!
