Skye's Hot Trends

Wanna know what's hot this season?? Look no further! I'll fill you in on fashion head turners that will have everyone saying, "Hey who is that?!"

Long Dresses and Skirts
I'm really loving the boho hippy dresses. We all know the Olsen twins started the trend but it seems people are really starting to pay attention to it now.
Tie this look together with big dangling earrings or a long single piece necklace.
You can find this at Planet Blue.
Make it funky with some cowboy boots and chunky jewelry!
You can also find this at Planet Blue.

The Olsen twins love to be daring with their wardrobe which I love! Mary Kate rocks this skirt with an at the hip belt.
High waisted long skirt and skinny belt with a high bun to tie it together. Duh girl!

Moon Manicures
A daring manicure has become just as statement-making as the of-the-moment accessory or the season's most wanted shoe—it's a dip into the outrageous without being over the top.
The Tip: Sometimes you need more than a steady hand to get these moon shapes looking crisp. A nail art pen offers you more control if you can't manage a brush! Sally Hansen has a great Nail Art Pen, $7.48, available at Ulta.

Let it Sparkle!

Anything sparkles! Whether it be nails, dresses or shoes. It's everywhere! So glam.
Just did this subtle sparkle to my nails this morning. Check out dresses.com for tons of sparkle dresses and evening wear.

The High Bun
So easy yet so chic! You can rock it on your way to Starbucks or a night out on the town.Tip: Flip head over and spray with a root volumizing hairspray. I like Big Sexy Hair Root Pump Volumizing Spray mousse. $11.39 on Amazon! Next, while head is upside down tease roots for extra body and fix in a bun. Voila! Easy huh?You want your bun to be loose but secure. Believe it or not this style is better when your hair is dirtier. Which is great if you are on the go but want to stay looking sharp.

These are just to name a few..More to come!

Hold the Gluten!

For those of you who don't know, I recently became gluten free due to health reasons. I had to cut out some major carbs and drastically change my diet. At first it was a bit overwhelming but now I wouldn't have it any other way! I feel a lot more energized and alert, I've shed some pounds, and I feel happier. If you are new to a gluten free way of living or have Celiac Disease stick with me, you got this! Also, I have been making some pretty yummy recipes lately that I will post in another blog. Meanwhile you can find tons of recipes online or head over to Border's for a cook book. They have tons!

Today I just discovered a store right in between Westlake and Thousand Oaks called "Simply Gluten Free" I took a peak inside and they have so much yummy stuff! It's a quaint little store with specialty cereals, flour substitutes, bars, beer and wine, bread, pasta, and even pizza dough! Just when I thought I would never get to enjoy pizza again!
Even if you are trying to cut down carbs it's great to try and eat more gluten free foods. For bread I suggest Udi's Whole Grain Bread. It has the flavor and consistency of fresh bread. Not like some of the nut breads I've tried that are thick and fall apart easily.Recipes to come!
